Mrs. Alta Mae Ball of 37 Pomfret Street, Hartford, Connecticut died Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

The graveside funeral service will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11:00 a. m. at the Sue Walker Cemetery in Cobb, Georgia.

Alta M. Wright Ball, of Hartford, beloved wife of the Johnny F. Ball, Sr., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Alexandria Manor in Bloomfield. Daughter of the late Roosevelt Freeman Wright and Martha Lee Laramore Wrighy, Alta was born in Leesburg, Georgia and attended Lee County public schools. The second oldest of eight children, Alta was very close to her siblings and even worked with her sister at the Hebrew Home in West Hartford for over 40 years as a dietary aid. She was well known in her family for her delicious chocolate cake and for having a quiet, determined nature. Alta was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Windsor. Her memory is forever cherished by her son, Johnny Frank Ball, Jr. and his wife Tempie of Cobb, Georgia and her daughter, Martha L. Glass of Hartford; three sisters, Malora W. Billington and her husband Clyde of Hartford, Perry Smith of Miami, Florida, and Rose Smith of Miami, Florida; four grandchildren, Stacey Ball, Johnny F. Ball, III, Amanda Glass and Brandon Glass. She also leaves an aunt, Zera Mae Wright of Desoto, Georgia; five sisters-in-law, Bessie Wright of Americus, Georgia, Susie Wright of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, Laura Wright of Cobb, Georgia, Mattie Ruth Carter of Jersey City, New Jersey, and Geraldine Cherry (John) of Leslie, Georgia; five brothers-in-law, Willie Ball of Americus, Georgia, Fletcher Ball of Jersey City, New Jersey, L. C. Ball of Desoto, Georgia, Marcellous Ball of Jersey City, New Jersey, and Charles Ball of Jersey City, New Jersey and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband of 48 years, Johnny F. Ball, Sr., Alta was preceded in death by a sister, Elnora Kearse and three brothers, Roosevelt F. Wright, Willis Wright, and Roger Wright.
