Ms. Wilma R. Deriso of 301 West 13th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cordele, Georgia.

The graveside funeral service will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:00 a. m. at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.


Ms. Wilma Ruth Deriso was born November 25, 1957 in Sumter County, Georgia. She was born to Reverend McArthur Deriso, Sr. and Mrs. Alice Mae West Deriso.

Educated in the Sumter County Public School System, she was a member of the Evangelistic Tabernacle Family Outreach Center in Vienna, Georgia. She enjoyed entertaining and spending time with friends. Wilma possessed a great love for nature. A member of the Black Dusters Motorcycle Club, she also enjoyed motorcycling.

On Saturday, November 9, 2013, she peacefully slipped away while a patient at the Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cordele, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Miss Marie Merritt; her grandson, Bryan; her siblings, Ms. Bobbie Jean Brown, Mr. Willie Lee Deriso, Mr. William West, and Mr. Bobby Lee Deriso.

She leaves cherished memories to her husband, Clifford Merritt; her loving and caring children, Clifford Merritt, Jr., Travis Deriso, Shronda Deriso, and Tameka Deriso all of Cordele, Georgia, and Vonn Hamilton of Atlanta, Georgia; her grandchildren, Tyrell, Dorien, Travious, Sykevious, Nacoria, Shakhia, Chrissy, Valencia, Denorris, Cortez, Courtney, Zabreon, Dezirya, Jordan, Travis, Jr., and Travarious, one great grandchild, A’Marri; her loving parents, Reverend McArthur Deriso and Mrs. Alice Mae West Deriso; her loving sisters, Ms. Arthur Mae Deriso of Vienna, Georgia, Ms. Betty Nell Deriso of Desoto, Georgia, and Ms. JaKeria Deriso of Americus, Georgia; her loving brothers, Mr. Julius C. (Fannie) Deriso of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. McArthur Deriso of Columbus, Georgia, and Minister Larry (Barbara) Walker of Atlanta, Georgia; her aunts and uncles, Bishop Elbert West, Sr. of Ashburn, Georgia, Mr. Hubert West of Dallas, Texas, Deacon Floyd (Georgia) Deriso and Deacon Arthur Deriso (Betty) Deriso, Ms. Dorothy Fuller, and Ms. Vickie Mae Mathis all of Desoto, Georgia, and Ms. Bertha Ray of Cordele, Georgia; her caring nieces and nephews, Ms. Cassandra Deriso, Mrs. Vivian (Antrayava) Jones, Mr. Julius Deriso, Jr., Mr. Joshua Deriso, Ms. Wassajja Lawrence, and Mr. Johntavious Robinson; her daughter-in-law, Ms. Felicia Williams; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include her special friends, Ms. Madie Williams and Ms. Margaret Hudson.
