Mr. Tommy Lee Carter of 1486 Bouldercrest Road, Decatur, Georgia died Sunday, December 1, 2013 at his residence.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a. m. in the sanctuary of the Beulahland Baptist Church, 702 Jones Avenue, Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Born on December 7, 1954, Tommy was the 8th child born to the late Willie James Carter, Sr. and Lula Mae Whitfield Carter. Many years ago he acquired the nickname, “Tom Cat” by his family. At a very early age, Tommy joined Beulahland Baptist Church. He was educated in the Crisp County Public School System and was employed by the City of Cordele. After relocating to College Park, GA, he worked at This is it Bar-B-Que which wa is last and final job.

Tommy was such a giving and loving person. He especially loved his family and was thelif of all the family gatherings. Out of all twelve siblings, he had the keenest memory. He knew every sibling, niece, nephew, great niece and great nephew’s birthday. He did not hesitate to call and remind us that a birthday was coming up. He was that favorite Uncle to all his nieces and nephews. They simply adored him. Along with his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by his sister, Annie Bell “Mae Jean” Carter Wedges. Tom Cat we will forever cherish your memory. Your sisters: Vera (Kenny Clark) Carter of Cordele, GA, Elinor Mumphery of Union City, CA, Catherine Massey of Riverdale, GA., Doretha (Ralph) Collins of Ocilla, GA., Minister Vieliene (Major) Jones of Albany, GA., and Brenda and Isiah of Rex, GA. Your brothers: Willie James Carter Jr. of Westbury, NY., Alexander (Lois) Carter of Cordele, GA., Joseph (Deborah) Carter of Gray, TN., and Roosevelt (Sharon) Carter of Riverdale, GA. Sixteen nieces, 16 nephews, 23 great nieces, 32 great nephews, and one great great nephew. Two Aunts: Mrs. Alma Whitfield of Orlando, FL and Mrs. Eloise Whitfield of Hempstead, NY. One brother-in-law: Mr. Jody Wedges of Cordele, GA. A host of family and friends to include his caregiver Ms. Barbara Seaborn of Decatur, GA.
